I received my doctorate degree in Psychology from New York University in l983. While earning my degree I worked full-time at Mt. Sinai Hospital in the Out Patient Department of Psychiatry as the Assistant Clinical Director of the Day Treatment Center. I helped to design and develop this innovative treatment program for individuals suffering from major psychological problems and diagnoses.

After earning my doctorate I moved to Long Island and obtained my license in Psychology in l984. Later that year I opened my private practice in Roslyn. In an on-going effort to enhance my skills and consequently what I can offer my clients I earned additional credentials in clinical hypnosis becoming  a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist in l993 and a Certified Diplomate in Clinical Hypnotherapy in 2000 through the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists. I have incorporated the use of hypnosis in my psychotherapy practice and have found it to be a very effective adjunct to my clinical practice.

I have always been committed to the mental health movement and its mission to minimize the stigma associated with mental illness as well as to enable greater access to quality mental health care. I have been involved in mental health advocacy efforts since the 70’s and have actively fought for the passage of several pieces of legislation on both the state and national level. In addition I have and continue to serve in a variety of leadership positions that deal with advocacy issues pertaining to mental health and psychology:

• Chair, PLANY (Psychologists for Legislative Action in New York) the state political action committee (PAC) for psychology since l998.
• Chair, Legislative Committee for the Nassau County Psychological Association since l989
• Active Member, New York State Psychological Association Legislative Committee since 1995. Coordinator for advocacy efforts in Nassau.
• Chair, Government Relations Committee, UJA, L.I. 2010
